Soon to Depart Australia
Starship
is currently in Newcastle, Australia, where she has been during the
2007/2008 cyclone season. We have completed installation of our new Volvo Penta engine,
hopefully bringing an end to our Australian engine saga.
During the cyclone season we have worked to feed the cruising kitty. Currently Scott is
finishing up his consulting
commitment in Virginia and Pam is completing her work as a Volunteer
Manager in Sydney.
As cyclone season draws to a close we
are turning our attention to our final preparations for continuing the
voyage. Scott will be returning to Australia on May 4. During
early May we will provision for the sailing season, finish our remaining
projects and sail Starship to Nelson Bay for a final shakedown. Prior
to May 25 (when our Australian visa expires) we will depart for New
Caledonia and the continuation of the Blind Circumnavigation.
Important Dates
On October 11th 2004 at 12:35 pm we cast
off our lines and set sail for the Blind Circumnavigation!
On November 10, 2005, after sailing over
9,000 nautical miles we reached Whangarei, New Zealand becoming the
first legally blind people to cross the Pacific Ocean! We are so
excited about achieving this first major milestone of our circumnavigation!
